Apr 28, 2026 at 10:02 AMTransporeon has integrated a new feature called „Natural Language Search“ into its procurement solution Autonomous Procurement. This generative AI technology aims to simplify the search for freight for carriers and improve usability on mobile devices. The feature is now available to all carriers in Europe and North America using the Autonomous Procurement solution.
With Natural Language Search, users can formulate search queries in natural language, such as „Refrigerated transport from Berlin to Munich with pickup in the next 48 hours.“ The system then immediately delivers relevant results in the form of AI-powered „Buy-It-Now“ offers. This innovation replaces the previous multi-step filtering process with a direct booking option, significantly enhancing search efficiency.
Efficiency Increase Through AI-Powered Search
The introduction of this feature is based on the results of a pilot project conducted with a large U.S. freight company. According to pilot data, the tool can interpret user intent with over 90% accuracy and provides relevant results promptly. This enables carriers to find suitable loads more quickly, thereby significantly reducing the time spent clicking through lists.
Jonah McIntire, Chief Platform Officer for Transport and Logistics at Trimble, explains: „We initiated this project because we kept hearing the same thing from transportation companies: They naturally think in terms of loads, but with traditional search tools, they had to translate that into filters and menu selections.“ Natural Language Search fills this gap by allowing users to directly input their needs while the AI takes care of the rest.
During the pilot project, 79% of carriers successfully used the AI tool for at least one search. The majority of search queries were conducted via desktop computers (72%), while 28% of requests came from mobile devices. These figures suggest that carriers are increasingly accessing freight marketplaces on mobile devices. Initial data also indicate that the new feature can increase the conversion rate from searches to bookings by up to 25%.
Alice Kostandova, Senior Logistics Coordinator at West Motor Freight, expressed positive feedback about the new feature: „The new AI search is very fast and comfortable to use. It saves me a lot of time and works much faster than setting traditional filters.“
The AI search is seamlessly integrated into Transporeon’s „Buy-It-Now“ offers, allowing carriers to move from request to booking within seconds. An example of this is searching for „Dry freight from Rotterdam to Munich tomorrow,“ where users immediately receive AI-driven offers that meet their criteria and can accept them right away. This enables faster capacity securing without additional negotiations.
