Jun 12, 2026 at 2:10 PMCustoms officers from the main customs office in Singen discovered a Porsche during a routine inspection on the A81 highway, which was being transported without the necessary import documents. The sports car, valued at approximately 99,000 CHF, equivalent to around 108,000 EUR, was located in a closed trailer. The driver was en route from Switzerland to North Rhine-Westphalia on behalf of the owner.
During the inspection at the Räthisgraben parking lot, the customs officers could not find any evidence of proper customs clearance upon crossing the border. This led to the initiation of a tax criminal proceeding due to the suspicion of tax evasion. The customs officers calculated the due import duties at around 33,400 EUR, based on the declared value of the vehicle.
The vehicle originates from the 1980s and could have potentially been cleared as a classic car at a lower customs rate, provided it was in its original condition. However, the numerous modifications made to the Porsche excluded this possibility.
Until the import duties are paid, the vehicle has been secured by customs. The case has been forwarded to the responsible criminal and fine office of the main customs office in Karlsruhe for further processing.
