This decision took effect in April 2026. In his new role, Scharphuis will be responsible for the company’s business activities in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Mike Larsson, President of Dematic and a member of the KION Group board, spoke positively about Scharphuis‘ commitment since joining the company in 2025. He emphasized that Scharphuis will lead the EMEA organization with a clear focus and ambitious goals.
Scharphuis brings extensive international leadership experience. Prior to his role at Dematic, he held various leadership positions at Bosch, most recently as CEO of Robert Bosch Manufacturing Solutions GmbH and President of the Assembly Technology division at Bosch Rexroth AG. His expertise particularly includes business development, operational implementation, and organizational development.
The new EMEA leader holds a degree in mechanical engineering from RWTH Aachen and is based at Dematic’s headquarters in Heusenstamm. In a statement, Scharphuis expressed his enthusiasm for working with the Dematic and KION teams to develop efficient supply chain solutions. He highlighted the importance of intelligent solutions and warehouse automation for the competitiveness and resilience of European companies.
Dematic employs over 10,000 people worldwide and has consulting, research and development centers, as well as production facilities in more than 26 countries. The company is part of the KION Group, which is regarded as a leading provider of supply chain solutions.
