Electronic waste returned to Switzerland
Apr 30, 2026 at 12:27 PMWith the commissioning of a new charging station in Villmergen (AG), Swiss Post is taking another step towards the electrification of its commercial vehicle fleet. This facility, located on the grounds of the new logistics center of Swiss Post Cargo, is considered one of the largest of its kind in Switzerland and provides a powerful infrastructure for electric trucks and postal buses.
Efficient Charging Infrastructure for E-Vehicles
The new charging station includes a total of 16 charging points, including fast chargers with a power output of up to 400 kW. These capacities not only enable the efficient charging of Swiss Post’s own heavy commercial vehicles but are also available to logistics partners and other third-party customers. With this measure, Swiss Post aims not only to meet its own operational requirements but also to facilitate the transition to electric drives for other companies.
A special feature of the charging infrastructure built by Repower is the innovative cable management that runs overhead. This solution allows Swiss Post to optimally utilize the existing logistics space while providing a powerful charging infrastructure.
Contribution to the Mobility Transition in Heavy Transport
Swiss Post sees the new charging station as an important contribution to the mobility transition in heavy transport. At a recent event, partners from the logistics, transport, and energy sectors had the opportunity to get an on-site impression of the new infrastructure. The combination of intelligent infrastructure and high charging capacity is intended to promote the acceptance and use of electric commercial vehicles.
By providing this charging infrastructure, Swiss Post positions itself as an active contributor to the transformation in the transport sector and supports the industry in finding more sustainable solutions.
