Jun 8, 2026 at 6:42 AMWith a new dispatch software and a self-service module, the express service trans-o-flex ThermoMed Austria (TMA) optimizes its delivery processes and increases transparency for recipients. These technical solutions have now been implemented in all four Austrian branches. Eugen Günther, spokesperson for the management at TMA, explains that the new processes help achieve central goals. These include faster and optimized route planning, the calculation and communication of an estimated delivery time window to recipients, and the harmonization of IT systems within the trans-o-flex companies.
Efficient Route Planning through New Software
The newly developed dispatch software relieves dispatchers and accelerates their workflows. It automatically creates the optimal route plans for all delivery vehicles of a branch, taking into account factors such as goods acceptance times and express deliveries with fixed delivery commitments. Dispatchers have the option to manually adjust the software’s suggestions if necessary. Günther emphasizes: “With the dispatch software, planning is faster, it is less dependent on the individual experience of employees, and overall more efficient.”
Additionally, the new system allows recipients to receive detailed advance information about the estimated delivery time window of their shipment. “We have delivered,” explains Günther. “Now, senders just need to book the service, provide the recipient data, and obtain the recipients‘ consent.”
Self-Service Module for Faster Route Starts
The self-service module that has also been introduced simplifies processes for delivery drivers. After loading their vehicles, they can directly perform the dispatch and route control in the transshipment hall. For this, they scan the QR code for their route at a computer terminal. The system compares the loaded shipments with those intended for the route in a few seconds and automatically prints the required accompanying documents. The previous trip to the dispatch office is eliminated, reducing waiting times and allowing drivers to start their routes earlier. This provides more time for the actual delivery.
The same technical solutions have also been implemented by trans-o-flex Express, TMA’s German sister company. Günther highlights that harmonizing the IT solutions with the already established processes in Germany creates a uniform quality level. Additionally, development and maintenance costs for the software decrease, and personnel deployment during outages becomes more flexible.
