Jul 1, 2026 at 7:00 AMStephan Wittenbrink will become the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Fiege Group, succeeding Peter Scherbel on July 1, 2026. Scherbel is stepping down from his position at his own request after 14 years on the board and a total of 35 years with the company. Wittenbrink, who has been with Fiege for more than 23 years in various leadership positions, was most recently responsible as Managing Director for the Transport Germany, Tec & Customs division.
Transition phase and future responsibilities
In the first months, Wittenbrink will jointly lead the COO area with Scherbel until September 30, 2026. After this transition period, Scherbel, who will remain connected to the company as General Representative, will hand over his responsibilities to Wittenbrink. Jens Fiege, Co-CEO of the Fiege Group, praised Scherbel for his long-standing commitment and emphasized his significant influence on the company’s development.
Felix Fiege, also Co-CEO, spoke positively about Wittenbrink’s promotion and highlighted his career within the company. He emphasized that Wittenbrink will further develop the COO area with a clear focus on operational excellence.
Outlook on the new role
Wittenbrink himself commented on his new role, stating that his goal is to anchor operational excellence within the company and to make successful solutions scalable. He aims to create measurable added value for customers together with the teams at Fiege and to strengthen the sustainable growth of the company.
The Fiege Group, a traditional German family business with over 150 years of history, is focusing on continuity and internal development with this personnel decision.
