The RCG, the freight railway company of ÖBB, has expanded its offering on the TransFER Duisburg–Curtici route with short-term bookable transport capacities. These new spot capacities are intended to provide freight forwarders and logistics companies with more flexibility to respond to short-term transport needs and fluctuating volumes.
Expansion of transport options
From now on, limited spot capacities for intermodal transport units such as containers or trailers can be booked in both directions between the Ruhr area and Western Romania. These quotas depend on the availability and utilization of the transport means. The introduction of these spot capacities allows companies to quickly access rail transport with fixed schedules and market-oriented prices during bottlenecks or demand peaks.
The connection between Duisburg and Curtici represents a direct transport option between Germany and Romania and offers a predictable solution for intermodal transport. With three departures per week and a fixed schedule, a stable foundation for freight traffic between the Ruhr area and Southeast Europe is established. Curtici serves as an important freight transport hub in Western Romania, while Duisburg is considered one of the largest inland ports in the world and is directly connected to the European rail network.
