Jun 2, 2026 at 10:19 AMThe company Liebherr has delivered a new electric port crane of the type FCC 280 to Puerto Seguro Fluvial S.A. in Paraguay. This crane is specifically designed to meet the demands of a growing trade center and will expand the company’s existing fleet, which already includes an FCC 230 and an FCC 280. The delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026 and aims to support the terminal’s expansion.
Expansion of trade capacities
Puerto Seguro Fluvial is considered the largest multipurpose terminal in the South American landlocked country and plays a central role in the regional logistics network along the Rio Paraguay. The new crane will primarily be used for container operations but is also designed for heavy loads. This is intended to improve the efficiency and resilience of trade flows in the region. The FCC 280 has a lifting capacity of 80 t with a boom length of 18 m and is equipped with an emission-free electro-hydraulic drive that also reduces noise emissions.
The investment in the new crane underscores Puerto Seguro Fluvial’s commitment to strengthening Paraguay’s logistical infrastructure. Eng. Francisco Griñó, founder of the company, and Eng. Montserrat Griñó Troche, president, emphasize the importance of this measure for the terminal’s long-term vision. „Through close collaboration with Liebherr, we are introducing equipment that combines performance, reliability, and environmental responsibility,“ they stated.
Technological adjustments and support
The design of the FCC 280 has been tailored to the specific requirements of the terminal to ensure high durability and precision under challenging conditions. Liebherr’s engineering team worked closely with Puerto Seguro Fluvial to develop a solution that offers both lifting power and operational versatility.
Additionally, Liebherr’s Maritime Service Center in Latin America will provide support throughout the entire lifecycle of the crane to ensure reliable performance. Gregor Hillen, sales manager at Liebherr-Rostock GmbH, highlights that customized solutions are crucial for the future of regional logistics.
