Survey on Cloud Outages in German Companies
Jul 3, 2026 at 11:02 AMThe Fraunhofer Institutes ICT, IGD, and IWM have achieved significant progress under the leadership of the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF as part of the „TERIS“ project, as reported by the institute. The aim of this project is to generate, analyze, and predict tire wear in a standardized and practical manner in the laboratory for the first time. The results of the first round include, among other things, data on reference wear, particle analytics, tribological models, AI-supported surface analysis, as well as concepts for test benches and methods for accelerated aging and VOC detection.
Advancements in the tire industry
According to the institute, the project „Technology Platform for Tire Wear and Its Emission Identification in Road Traffic TERIS“ aims to advance the development of tires and rubber compounds. With the completion of the first milestone and the associated project review, a significant step has been taken. This was also confirmed by the advisory board, which consists of industry experts.
The newly developed standards for laboratory analysis and prediction of tire wear are based on a combination of various collection and measurement methods. These are intended to enable precise analysis of both suspended and sedimenting particle fractions. In addition, tribological models have been created that investigate the relationship between load parameters, material properties, surface structure, and particle formation. This aims to replicate real wear processes in the laboratory.
