Customs secures eight tons of cocaine in Wilhelmshaven
Jun 3, 2026 at 12:07 PMThe Rheinhafen Koblenz has made an important personnel change in its management. Niklas Walbröl (center) will take over responsibility for the port area after a training period. The port, which serves as a central logistics and transshipment location in the region along the Rhine and Moselle rivers, connects the modes of transport water, rail, and road, playing a crucial role in the economic development of the surrounding area.
Walbröl brings extensive experience from his previous roles in the inland ports of Andernach and Bonn. Additionally, he is qualified as a specialist in goods transport and logistics. This combination of practical experience and professional knowledge is expected to contribute to the continued positive development of the port area. During a transitional phase, Walbröl will jointly lead the management with Ulrich Gramsch (right), who will focus more on the rail sector. Gramsch has been in this position for many years and will continue to play a central role until his retirement.
Planned transitional structure
The new structure provides for mutual representation and is intended to remain in place until the beginning of Gramsch’s retirement. This arrangement not only creates planning security but also promotes structured knowledge management within the organization. The responsible parties hope that these measures will provide a clear direction for the future of Rheinhafen Koblenz.
Lars Hörnig (left), Managing Director of Stadtwerke Koblenz, expressed positive views on the early succession planning and the possibility of a gradual handover of responsibilities. The decision to appoint Walbröl to the management is seen as a strategic step to ensure continuity and efficiency in port operations.
