May 27, 2026 at 11:47 AMTransgourmet has announced that it will launch the regional sustainability initiative „Rhein-Main becomes greener“ in early summer. This initiative is part of the Climate Plan 2050, with which the company aims to gradually reduce its emissions and ultimately achieve net zero. The focus is on implementing alternative drive technologies as well as constructing a publicly accessible CNG filling station at the Riedstadt location. The goal is to ensure a future-proof supply in one of Germany’s most significant economic regions.
Starting in mid-June, 40 biogas trucks will be deployed in Riedstadt to make deliveries more climate-friendly. The transition of the entire fleet to alternative drive technologies will take place gradually. These measures are intended to help reduce CO2 emissions in deliveries at the Riedstadt location by half.
Experiences from Hamburg are incorporated
Transgourmet has already gained experience in climate-friendly deliveries with the initiative „Hamburg becomes greener.“ This initiative included, among other things, the use of biogas trucks and the expansion of the corresponding infrastructure. The insights gained from Hamburg will now be integrated into the further development of logistics in the Rhein-Main region. The company emphasizes that sustainability must not only be strategically considered but also concretely implemented in everyday operations.
Christoph Nörtershäuser, Head of Logistics, Construction & Technology and member of the extended management board at Transgourmet, explains: „Sustainability must become visible – not only in strategies and target images but in daily actions. With ‚Rhein-Main becomes greener,‘ we are bringing our Climate Plan 2050 concretely to the streets and making climate-friendly logistics tangible in everyday life.“
Official start of the initiative
The official launch of „Rhein-Main becomes greener“ is scheduled for June 16, 2026. The event will take place at the CNG filling station located at Nicola-Tesla-Straße 8 in Riedstadt. On this occasion, guests from politics, business, and Transgourmet’s partner network will be invited to celebrate the beginning of the initiative together. Following the reception, there will be an exchange over food and drinks at the food truck in the parking lot in front of the company premises.
With the Climate Plan 2050, Transgourmet pursues ambitious goals along the entire value chain. These include reducing operational emissions, expanding alternative drive technologies, and further developing climate-friendly supply chains.
