DSV reports revenue growth in Q1/2026
Apr 29, 2026 at 10:56 AMThe construction work at the Garbe Industrial business park in Holzgerlingen, south of Stuttgart, is progressing as planned. Six months after the start of construction, a topping-out ceremony took place, attended by representatives from the city, the companies involved in the construction, and business partners. The completion of the construction work in the „Buch“ industrial area is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.
Details about the business park
The business park consists of two buildings with a total area of approximately 16,600 m². The hall area is around 14,300 m², complemented by about 560 m² for offices and social rooms, as well as approximately 1,700 m² of mezzanine space that can be used for the storage of goods. Twelve loading bridges and seven ground-level sectional doors are planned for the loading and unloading of trucks. Additionally, parking spaces for 124 cars will be created on the outdoor area.
Kathrin Fuhrmann, Regional Manager Southwest at Garbe Industrial, stated: „With the Garbe Industrial Park in Holzgerlingen, we are creating modern settlement potential at an established industrial location that combines sustainable construction methods with flexible usage options.“ The new building will be developed according to current ecological standards and ESG criteria and is aimed at companies in the fields of commerce, light industrial, and production.
The hall area can be divided into units starting from approximately 1,300 m², and the load-bearing capacity of the floor is six tons per square meter. Upon completion, the business park will meet the energy efficiency standard BEG-40 and will operate without fossil energy sources. Heating will be provided by air-to-air heat pumps, and a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 1.2 megawatts peak will be installed on the roof. Garbe Industrial also aims for certification according to the Gold Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council.
Completion of development
The development of the overall 100,000 m² site will be completed with the third construction phase. Garbe Industrial acquired the area, which was previously used by a plant manufacturer, in 2021. A existing building and a new building completed in 2023 are already leased.
Mayor Ioannis Delakos expressed positive views on the revitalization of the third construction phase: „The Garbe Industrial business park is an important impetus for the further development of the Buch industrial area and will strengthen the economic location of Holzgerlingen.“
It is currently unclear whether and which companies will move into the new business park. „We are currently in advanced discussions with interested parties and expect to be able to lease the Garbe Industrial Park promptly, not least due to its excellent location,“ said Kathrin Fuhrmann. Holzgerlingen is located in the Stuttgart metropolitan region and is connected to the A 8 via the B 464 and A 81, linking the location to Karlsruhe in the west and Stuttgart Airport, as well as Ulm and Munich in the east. The business park is also just a few hundred meters from the nearest public transport connection.
