Need for action on waterways infrastructure
Mar 27, 2026 at 10:01 AMThe Transco Group has announced plans to expand its activities in the field of warehouse logistics. Construction work for a logistics center covering more than 20,000 square meters began last September at the main location in Singen. The investment volume for this project amounts to 40 million euros. As part of this expansion, the subsidiary Transco Mainsped in Rüsselsheim plans to increase its storage capacity from the current 12,000 square meters to 18,000 square meters by 2026. The additional space is initially intended to be leased, although new construction is not ruled out, as the company states.
Strategic realignment
Christian Bücheler, Managing Director of the Transco Group, explains that the decision to enlarge the warehouse spaces was made under the motto „Grow or go.“ According to Bücheler, the logistics industry has the highest insolvency risk of all economic sectors. This assessment is based on insolvency statistics. Bücheler emphasizes that the challenges in the industry are no longer only affecting smaller, undercapitalized companies, but increasingly larger firms as well. „We will not become more resilient solely through revenue growth; rather, we must also grow qualitatively, in new business areas and with intelligent logistics concepts,“ says the company’s managing director.
