Mar 23, 2026 at 11:55 AMLiebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH is planning a comprehensive expansion of its site in Lindenberg near Lake Constance to meet the increasing demands of the aviation industry. Construction of a new assembly and customer service area of approximately 6,000 m² is set to begin in 2026. This measure is part of a long-term strategy aimed at increasing the company’s production capacities and improving operational efficiency.
New Office Building and Modern Standards
As part of the expansion, a new office building will also be constructed on the factory premises. The planned complex will cover an area of about 10,000 m² and is intended to provide employees with modern working conditions. The current administrative building, the oldest structure on the site, will be demolished to make way for the hall extension. Additionally, an expansion of the company restaurant is planned. The new buildings will be designed according to current environmental technology standards, including heat recovery, green roofs, and photovoltaic systems. Martin Wandel, Managing Director for Operations, emphasizes the importance of environmentally friendly solutions in aviation and the necessity of ecological measures in production.
Growth of MRO Services
The demand for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services in the aviation industry is also increasing. In particular, the Airbus A350 fleet will require an increase in MRO activities in the coming years. Liebherr-Aerospace is active in this area, as the company develops and produces the nose landing gear and the leading-edge flap actuation system for the A350. Gerd Heinzelmann, Managing Director for Customer and Sales, highlights that the positive development in the industry presents challenges for the company related to the required space for customer services.
Increasing Personnel Needs
With the growth of the aviation industry, the demand for qualified employees is also rising. Liebherr-Aerospace is currently seeking reinforcement in various areas, particularly in production, assembly, and customer service. Philipp Walter, Managing Director for the commercial sector, emphasizes the importance of the German site, which has been active in aviation for over 65 years. Currently, about 270 positions need to be filled to support the company’s expansion and advance technological development in the region.
