Feb 13, 2026 at 11:41 AMAPM Terminals, a subsidiary of A.P. Moller – Maersk, and Eurogate have announced that they are in advanced negotiations for a long-term partnership. The goal of this partnership is to invest one billion euros in the modernization of the North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven (NTB). These investments aim to develop the terminal into one of the most modern and efficient handling facilities in Europe.
Modernization and Capacity Expansion
The planned investments include the modernization of the terminal’s technical equipment as well as an increase in the annual handling capacity from the current three to four million TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units). A central element of the plans is the complete electrification of the handling operations. By utilizing renewable energy, the NTB aims to become the first terminal of its kind in Germany to achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions in operations. However, the implementation of these plans is still subject to approvals.
Vincent Clerc, CEO of A.P. Moller – Maersk, emphasizes the strategic importance of Bremerhaven: “Bremerhaven has a unique potential to position itself as a strategic logistics hub in the region and to significantly support the flow of goods to and from Germany as well as our ocean network.”
