DB Schenker opens new contract logistics location in Rostock
Sep 9, 2022 at 6:58 PMApproximately one hundred kilometers west of Stockholm, TGW is realizing a flagship project for the number one in the Swedish grocery trade, ICA Sweden, by January 2026. With the highly automated fulfillment center, ICA Sweden will increase the efficiency of its processes and significantly accelerate deliveries to its stores.
(Marchtrenk/Solna) A 30-meter-high frozen pallet warehouse supplies the highly dynamic shuttle system with replenishment. The latter allows direct access to each individual item, enabling the shortest processing times. To pick store orders, the required goods are retrieved, sequenced, and then assembled at palletizing stations into store-specific roll containers, either fully or partially automatically. The various functional areas of the facility are connected with energy-efficient pallet, carton, and container conveyor technology.
Efficient Store Deliveries
The TGW Warehouse Software ensures the optimal arrangement of items to minimize the effort required for stocking shelves in the stores. The compact arrangement of the individual modules also allows for a significant reduction in the volume of space to be cooled compared to manual picking. This supports ICA in achieving its sustainability goals.
All modules have been designed for demanding use in a frozen environment at -25 degrees Celsius: They cover the storage process as well as picking and palletizing. Their productivity, efficiency, and reliability are proven day after day in dozens of companies around the globe – for example, at Coop (Switzerland), NewCold, or Nordfrost.
Joint Automation Journey
“We are very pleased to accompany ICA on its automation journey as a partner,” emphasizes Kristian Brink, Sales Project Manager at TGW Scandinavia. “Together, we will tailor intralogistics to the needs of the Swedish market and implement a solution that sets new standards.”
