ATM Global Logistics celebrates 50 years of transport development
Jul 16, 2026 at 3:15 PMThe logistics industry faces the challenge of implementing sustainable solutions across national borders. An example of this approach is the regular transport connection between Italy and Switzerland, operated by the Swiss road transport company Galliker. This connection is realized with a fully electric vehicle, the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600.
Efficient transport solutions with electric vehicles
The transport route extends over approximately 400 km, leading from Ospedaletto in Italy via Bannwil to Altishofen in Switzerland. The eActros 600 has a battery capacity of 621 kWh and can achieve a range of up to 500 km. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a charging power of up to 400 kW, making it suitable for international long-distance transport.
A double-deck semi-trailer is used for transport, providing space for up to 66 pallets and allowing a maximum payload of 20 tons. This enables the complete electric transport of shipments for the customer Lactalis without any restrictions on daily operations.
The transition to electric transport means also has positive effects on the environment. Compared to conventional diesel transport, a saving of approximately 385 kg of CO₂ is achieved per trip. This results in an annual CO₂ reduction of around 38.5 tons. These practical applications illustrate the potential of electromobility and demonstrate how the combination of modern electric vehicles and a powerful charging infrastructure sustainably transforms international freight transport.
Galliker expressly thanks Lactalis for the trust placed in them and the willingness to explore new paths together. Such partnerships, according to the transport company, are crucial for the further development of sustainable logistics solutions.
