Swisslog presents FastMove for pallet transport
Jul 15, 2026 at 3:12 PMSince early July 2023, the port of Wilhelmshaven has been regularly used for the supply of offshore wind farms. Jade Dienst GmbH has taken on the responsibility for the loading and storage of spare parts and other supplies on behalf of Vattenfall. This process occurs on a bi-weekly basis and is crucial for the operation of the wind farms.
Supply of the DanTysk and Sandbank Wind Farms
The offshore wind farms DanTysk and Sandbank, located approximately 70 and 90 kilometers west of Sylt respectively, benefit from this logistical support. In addition to material logistics, crew changes for technicians and ship crews are also organized in Wilhelmshaven. These measures are part of a comprehensive strategy to establish offshore wind power as an important component of the energy transition.
Offshore wind power has proven to be particularly effective, as winds are stronger and more consistent there than on land. This enables significant generation of renewable electricity. With the establishment of Wilhelmshaven as a central supply location, the port gains importance as a hub for sustainable energies.
The first deployment of the MV Acta Auriga marked the beginning of this new logistics operation. On July 1, 2023, the 93.4-meter-long specialized vessel, which was commissioned in 2018, was unloaded and reloaded in Wilhelmshaven. Within a few hours, the ship was prepared for its deployment in the offshore wind farms.
