Jun 24, 2026 at 1:43 PMThe Alfred Schuon Group has celebrated its 75th anniversary. The company, founded in 1951 as a one-man operation with a single truck in Haiterbach, has developed into a logistics service provider operating across Europe. Today, the group employs over 600 staff and has more than 350 scheduled vehicles, as well as a storage area of over 130,000 m² at a total of sixteen locations in Germany, Hungary, and Poland. The anniversary was celebrated with customers, business partners, and representatives from politics. Another celebration for employees and their families is planned for September.
From the Beginnings to Expansion
The history of the Alfred Schuon Group began in 1951 when 24-year-old bricklayer Alfred Schuon became self-employed with a used Mercedes L 3500 tipper truck. At a time when oxen were still widely used in agriculture, he took on transport for farmers and winter services for the city of Haiterbach. On June 22, 1951, he officially registered his business.
With the entry of his son Theo into the business in 1964, a phase of rapid growth began. In 1966, Schuon expanded his business to include the production and transport of ready-mixed concrete. In the 1970s, the company obtained its first long-distance transport permit and expanded its fleet. In 1979, the sole proprietorship was transformed into Alfred Schuon GmbH, and Theo took over management. Under his leadership, the company continued to grow and moved into a new operational building in the Haiterbach industrial area.
Generational Change and New Business Areas
In the 2000s, the third generation took on responsibility in the family business. Daughter Sandra Grimm joined in 2004, followed by son Alexander Schuon in 2006 and daughter Bianca Kuppetz in 2008. Alexander Schuon has been leading the group since 2015 together with his father and has expanded the portfolio through new industry solutions and the development of contract logistics. A significant step was the entry into battery logistics with the opening of the Wildberg I logistics center in 2020.
Theo Schuon emphasizes his son’s entrepreneurial foresight: „Alexander has proven in recent years that he leads Schuon with entrepreneurial vision. Despite challenging competitive conditions, the company has developed excellently.“
Sustainability in Focus
A central theme for the future of the Alfred Schuon Group is sustainability. Alexander Schuon explains: „We pursue a clear sustainability strategy and consistently integrate it into all processes.“ The new Wildberg II logistics center meets the requirements of the DGNB Gold standard and utilizes an electric heat pump as well as a photovoltaic system with a rated output of nearly 2,000 kWp. Additionally, the fleet is being electrified, with several eActros in regional use and a MAN eTGX for fully electric volume transports.
The development of the company is significantly shaped by the employees. Alexander Schuon highlights: „Their expertise and connection to the company are still important success factors today.“
Celebrations for the Anniversary
On the occasion of the anniversary, numerous distinguished guests from politics and business honored the development of the Alfred Schuon Group. Among the speakers were Klaus Mack MdB, Carl Christian Hirsch MdL, and Mayor Kerstin Brenner. The celebrations included a short film about the company’s history, a „living room talk from 1951,“ and tours of the Wildberg II logistics center.
A highlight of the event was the Schuon truck convoy, which ended with a fireworks display and the new anniversary truck. Guests concluded the evening on the terrace of the work café with „Black Forest meets Fine Barbecue“ and anniversary cocktails. In September, employees and their families are invited to a folk festival party to celebrate the anniversary together. Alexander Schuon emphasizes: „Our team has made the Alfred Schuon Group the success story it is today.“
