May 28, 2026 at 1:17 PMFiege celebrated the topping-out ceremony for a new multi-user center in Hamminkeln, North Rhine-Westphalia, on Thursday. With this new building, the family-owned company, which has been in operation for over 150 years, is investing in the expansion of its location network in the Lower Rhine region. The property, located directly on the A3, will be divided into five hall sections and will offer approximately 55,000 m² of logistics space, as well as additional administrative, office, and social areas for customers in the consumer goods segment. The completion of the logistics center, which is being realized by Fiege Real Estate, is planned for the end of the year. The operational start for the first customers is scheduled for early 2027. As part of the construction measures, a new park-and-ride parking lot (P+M) will also be created on Isselburger Straße, which will be handed over to the city and the state agency upon completion of the construction work.
Significance for the Region
Hamminkeln’s Mayor Robert Graaf emphasizes the importance of the project for the region: “The new Fiege logistics center in Hamminkeln is an important impetus for our city. It is impressive to see how dynamically the warehouse is taking shape. The family business Fiege has been present in our region for many years – and I am very pleased that Fiege has decided to invest long-term and sustainably in the Hamminkeln location.”
Jens Fiege, who leads the company together with his cousin Felix Fiege as co-CEO in the fifth generation, emphasizes the strategic relevance of the new logistics center: “For us as a logistics service provider, it is crucial to be present where it is most valuable for our customers. The proximity to significant logistics hubs such as Duisburg and Rotterdam, as well as the excellent connection to the Ruhr area, make Hamminkeln a perfect location. With our new building, we create additional flexibility and can meet our customers‘ requirements even more precisely. A special thanks goes to the city of Hamminkeln for allowing us to grow here and strengthen our location network.”
Sustainability in Focus
In the development of the logistics center, Fiege places special emphasis on sustainability and future-oriented infrastructure. Planned features include energy-efficient LED lighting, fast charging stations for electric trucks, modern heat pump technology, and a large-scale PV system with a total output of 6,500 kilowatt peak. Fiege aims for the Hamminkeln location to achieve the sustainability standard EG-40 and a Gold certification (version 2023) from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
