Prologis completes distribution center in Berlin
Feb 2, 2026 at 12:39 PMDirectly at the exit of the Brenner Autobahn A22 in Brixen, South Tyrol, the company kostner SERVICE STATIONS has commissioned one of the most powerful megawatt charging stations for electric heavy-duty vehicles in Europe, as announced by the company. This high-performance charging station allows modern electric trucks to recharge sufficient energy for several hundred kilometers in just 30 to 40 minutes, according to the company.
Charging Infrastructure for Heavy Traffic
The charging station utilizes a decentralized charging system from Alpitronic and aims to position South Tyrol as a pioneer in establishing a comprehensive high-performance network for electric long-distance transport in Northern Italy. Andreas Kostner, CEO of kostner GROUP 1947, emphasizes the need for new solutions for freight transport along the heavily trafficked Brenner route. “Especially along the heavily traveled Brenner route, new solutions are needed for freight transport that are ecological, practical, and economical,” explains Kostner. He highlights that the company wants not only to accompany the transport transition but also to actively and strategically shape it.
The station, which has been in operation since 2025, offers two charging points with the Combined Charging System (CCS), with a maximum power of 600 kW. Additionally, there is a charging station with the new Megawatt Charging System (MCS), which enables charging powers of up to 1,000 kW. According to the company, this system will be installed in the latest electric trucks starting in 2026.
