Jul 16, 2026 at 4:31 PMDHL Supply Chain is expanding its logistics offerings for data centers in the Asia-Pacific region. With this initiative, the company aims to solidify its position as a partner for hyperscalers and data center operators as investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and large infrastructure projects increase.
More than 30,000 square meters of specially designed warehouse space are already in operation in the region. Additionally, DHL plans to expand by another 130,000 square meters and build customized facilities in Malaysia and Thailand, set to begin in the next two years. In total, DHL will provide more than 160,000 square meters of logistics infrastructure for data centers in key markets in the region.
Response to Data Center Growth
These measures are a direct response to the rapid growth of data centers in the Asia-Pacific region. They complement the investments announced in March in North America, where DHL plans to build ten warehouses for data center logistics to meet the increasing demand from hyperscalers. The demand for AI applications, cloud services, and digital connectivity is putting pressure on data center operators to meet tight schedules and manage complex international supply chains. The data center logistics market is expected to grow from $23 billion in 2025 to approximately $35 billion by 2030. These developments require fast, secure, and specialized handling, in which DHL can support the entire lifecycle of data centers.
According to Javier Bilbao, CEO Asia Pacific at DHL Supply Chain, the Asia-Pacific region will become the most important region for data centers by 2030. He emphasizes, “At this stage of large-scale implementation, our customers need more than just capacity—they need reliable execution.” Investments in specialized infrastructure and advanced logistics capabilities aim to ensure this reliability.
Customized Logistics Solutions
DHL combines highly secure, customized storage solutions with specialized logistics services to support complex rollouts in multiple phases. A key aspect is the targeted training of employees in white-glove handling, while simultaneously expanding specialized technical services. These measures enable teams to shift critical preparation and integration tasks from construction sites to controlled logistics environments.
White-glove handling ensures that servers, equipment, and critical systems are transported under controlled conditions to avoid damage and delays. The services encompass the entire delivery process, from site analyses and route assessments to on-site preparation, including ground protection measures and the management of secured storage areas.
Additionally, specialized technical services address the specific requirements of data center logistics. Teams assemble server rack frames, install components, wire the racks, and conduct functionality tests. To protect sensitive server technology during transport, appropriate packaging solutions are employed. DHL consolidates these tasks into specialized teams and shifts the work to dedicated logistics centers to relieve construction sites and reduce installation risks.
Amanda Rasmussen, Chief Commercial Officer at DHL Global Forwarding, highlights that logistics for data centers is a strategic growth area for DHL. “Following our recent investments in North America, we are now expanding our activities in Asia-Pacific,” she explains. The company consolidates expertise across the group to offer integrated end-to-end solutions for all phases of the data center lifecycle. With a global network and specialized expertise, DHL supports its customers in rapid growth and ensures the availability and precision required for these complex processes.
These measures underscore the strategic importance of data centers for DHL and enable the company to support customers worldwide with integrated logistics solutions as digital infrastructure grows in various regions.
