J.S. Logistics and MAN launch electromobility in Europe
Jul 3, 2026 at 1:50 PMThe Swiss logistics company Planzer has expanded its fleet of electrically operated Kyburz small vehicles for the last mile by adding eight new units. These vehicles are specifically designed for the training of apprentices in the profession of logistics specialist EFZ with a focus on distribution, which will be offered starting in summer 2025. The new vehicles are characterized by their low-emission technology and are intended to provide an environmentally friendly solution to the challenges of urban logistics.
Expansion of the vehicle fleet
The new units, equipped with trailers, expand the existing fleet of Kyburz, a Swiss company specializing in compact electric vehicles. As part of a pilot project, a vehicle with a swap body was developed three years ago, which has proven effective in city logistics. The eight additional small vehicle units now procured are each equipped with four swap bodies and are intended to facilitate the delivery of small packages in urban areas.
The vehicles can transport packages weighing up to 30 kg and are designated for use in Planzer branches in Altstetten, Bern, and Pratteln, as well as in the training centers. They have a range of up to 130 km on a full battery charge and require a driver’s license of category A1.
Training in the logistics sector
The three-year vocational training program for logistics specialists EFZ with a focus on distribution is offered at courier services, distribution centers, and now also at Planzer Paket. The training provides apprentices with knowledge in efficient sorting, transportation, and timely delivery of shipments. Practical skills, such as loading vehicles and planning routes, are also part of the training. Additionally, apprentices have the opportunity to obtain a forklift license.
Sustainable logistics solutions
The expansion of electric fine distribution is based on the positive experiences from a previous pilot project with LOXO. The vehicles from Kyburz have proven to be reliable in city logistics and contribute to sustainable logistics. The integration of these technologies into training allows apprentices to work with modern and environmentally friendly solutions during their education.
Joanna Wlazlo, Head of Marketing at Kyburz, emphasizes the continuous technical development of the vehicles and their adaptation to customer needs. Close collaboration with users is crucial for practical solutions and remains a central component of the company’s innovative strength.
