Michail Stahlhut appointed CEO of Rail Innovators Group
May 19, 2026 at 11:22 AMThe German logistics service provider Honold Green Aerospace has announced the construction of a logistics center in Rain am Lech, Bavaria, which will support the production supply for the Airbus helicopter plant in Donauwörth. The new facility will be built on an area of approximately 40,000 m² and is expected to meet modern safety and technology standards. The completion of the logistics center is planned for the second quarter of 2027, following a construction period of about one year.
The logistics center will play a central role in supplying helicopter production by delivering several thousand components and parts to the production lines daily. Planned technical facilities include modern conveyor technology, automated storage structures, and digital control systems. These measures aim to ensure a reliable and efficient production supply.
Economic impulses for the region
The realization of the project is considered a significant step for industrial development in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries. The building permit was granted swiftly with the support of the city of Rain am Lech and the Donau-Ries district office. With the commissioning of the logistics center, up to 120 jobs in the operational area and about 30 additional office jobs will be created.
The building will be realized according to Honold’s Green-Cube concept, which combines sustainable construction methods with functional industrial architecture. Resource-saving materials and energy-efficient building technology will be used to create an environmentally conscious infrastructure for the aviation industry.
Heiner Matthias Honold (center), shareholder of Honold Green Aerospace, emphasizes the importance of the project for the aviation industry: “The strategy to be a reliable logistics and real estate partner for the aviation industry is now yielding initial results. We have full order books in this area.”
Honold Green Aerospace is part of the Honold Logistics and Real Estate Group, which specializes in infrastructure, logistics, and real estate solutions for the aviation and defense industries. The group employs around 1,400 people and operates logistics and defense areas of over 1,000,000 m².
