Apr 30, 2026 at 7:47 AMWorldwide Flight Services (WFS), a company of the SATS Group, has signed a contract with Kuehne+Nagel to provide cargo handling services at Frankfurt Airport. This airport is considered the largest air freight hub in Europe. The agreement follows WFS’s investments in two warehouses and two office buildings on a 24,000 m² site within the Cargo City South of the airport, which became operational in December. The new facilities are equipped with systems for handling ULD (Unit Load Devices) as well as volume and dimension scanners to expedite the processing of shipments. Up to 100,000 tons of import and export cargo can be processed annually for customers utilizing WFS’s specialized E-Commerce and Freight Handling (EFFH) services.
Expansion of the partnership in Frankfurt
Bert Selis, VP Business Development E-Commerce & Freight Forwarding Handling EMEAA, commented on the partnership: “Kuehne+Nagel is an important and valued partner of SATS and WFS. We are proud to expand our global partnership in Frankfurt, made possible by the introduction of our E-Commerce and Freight Handling services in our new facilities at the airport.” Selis emphasized that the EFFH services are central to the growth strategy of SATS/WFS and aim to provide clear operational and cost advantages for growing logistics providers, which Kuehne+Nagel has recognized with this new contract.
Martin Schaefer, SVP Air Logistics Germany at Kuehne+Nagel, added: “We are pleased to expand our partnership with WFS in Frankfurt. Frankfurt is an important hub within the Kuehne+Nagel air freight network. Together, we can accelerate imports and exports by reducing handling and processing times to optimize cargo flows for our customers.”
On behalf of Kuehne+Nagel, WFS will not only handle import deliveries but also capture weight and dimensions of export shipments, as well as ensure and provide goods for transport. Additional services include cargo labeling, consolidation of HAWB (House Air Waybill) into Master Air Waybill (MAWB), building ULDs, and special transport shuttles to ground handling companies and airlines for departing flights. In addition to Frankfurt, WFS’s EFFH service network also includes Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, Liège, London, Madrid, Stockholm, and twelve airports in France, including Paris CDG.
