Dirk Steffes will become the new Managing Director of Kombiverkehr KG on June 1, 2026. In this role, he will take over the strategic direction of the company alongside Heiko Krebs. Steffes succeeds Armin Riedl, who has led the company for over three decades. Riedl will step down from his position at the end of June 2026 but will remain with the company in an advisory capacity until mid-2027.

In his new role, Steffes will be particularly responsible for sales, corporate communications, and human resources. The goal is to further drive the growth of Kombiverkehr KG in European rail freight transport. Ulrich Maixner, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, expressed positive sentiments about the decision: “With Dirk Steffes, we gain a recognized expert in European rail freight transport and intermodal logistics with extensive leadership experience from international management positions.” Maixner emphasized that Steffes‘ knowledge in production and asset management, as well as his strategic sales expertise, will significantly contribute to the positive development of the company.
Professional background of Dirk Steffes
Dirk Steffes brings many years of international experience in the logistics and rail industry. His previous positions include leadership roles at companies such as Mars Inc., TX Logistik, Mitsui Rail Capital Europe, and DB Cargo. Additionally, he has served on several supervisory boards of infrastructure companies in the rail sector and has held advisory roles for the infrastructure investor Swiss Life Asset Managers. Steffes studied business administration in Germany and the USA.
