Jul 7, 2026 at 10:43 AMThe entrepreneur Ruth Pflaum took over the presidency of LBS – Landesverband Bayerischer Spediteure e.V. on July 3, 2026. She succeeds Henning R. Mack, who is retiring after 13 years in the association, including two years as president. With Pflaum, a woman is at the helm of LBS for the first time since its founding 80 years ago.
Pflaum, who has served as vice president of LBS since 2021, was elected during the summer meeting of the executive board in Munich. In this meeting, Josef Heiß, managing partner of BTK Befrachtungs- und Transportkontor GmbH, was appointed as the new vice president. Heiß had been a regular member of the executive board since 2023. Herbert Brandl, authorized signatory of Horst Pöppel Spedition, will join the executive board to replace Mack.
Commitment to the Industry
In her first statement, the new president emphasized the importance of entrepreneurial spirit for the work of the executive board. „Entrepreneurial spirit is the defining element of our joint work. As an executive board, we contribute our commitment and knowledge voluntarily and out of conviction,“ she stated. She highlighted the responsibility the association has for the numerous companies in freight forwarding and logistics in Bavaria, which demonstrate their systemic relevance daily. Pflaum thanked the member companies and their employees for their trust in the work of the executive board and expressed optimism about the challenges facing the industry.
Sabine Lehmann, managing director of LBS, underscored the close connection of the association to practical operations. „The close proximity to practical operations is one of the strengths of our association. The full-time team in the office has always been able to rely on the cooperative and sustainable support from the voluntary sector,“ said Lehmann. This collaboration enables LBS to credibly represent the concerns and positions of its member companies in public and political spheres.
