New Bio-LNG station in Wörth
Apr 23, 2026 at 10:09 AMLTG Cargo, the freight subsidiary of the Lithuanian state railways LTG, has put 72 new pocket wagons into operation for intermodal transport between Kaunas and Duisburg, as reported by online publications. The wagons were manufactured in 2025 by the Bulgarian manufacturer Kolowag and procured by the subsidiary LTG Cargo Polska. They are intended to replace leased vehicles and increase capacity on the western route.
The wagons are designed for the transport of standard semi-trailers and do not require additional securing systems. A complete train can accommodate 36 trailers and allows for swift processing.
The connection between Kaunas and Duisburg has been in operation since 2022 and uses the European standard gauge. The trains run three times a week over a distance of approximately 1520 km.
LTG Cargo Polska operates part of the route in Poland and has its own fleet of locomotives and wagons for international operations.
