Lufthansa Cargo increases revenue and EBIT
Mar 6, 2026 at 8:13 AMThe Polish pharmaceutical company Aflofarm Farmacja Polska Sp. z o.o. has expanded its automatic high-bay warehouse in Pabianice through collaboration with Kardex Mlog. As part of this project, three new shelving aisles were added, significantly increasing the company’s storage capacity and performance. The expansion includes 20,016 new pallet spaces and was completed in December 2025, after work began in August 2024.
The decision to choose Kardex Mlog was made, according to Jakub Mieżyński, project manager at Aflofarm, based on the positive evaluation of the offer compared to other submitted proposals. Mieżyński emphasizes that the competitive price, the company’s extensive experience in similar projects, and the high professional competence of the team were crucial. Another advantage was the ability to implement the project with Polish engineers and project managers, ensuring efficient execution and control over the project’s progress.
Efficient Communication and Implementation
The choice of Polish as the project language contributed to improved communication among the parties involved and accelerated the project’s implementation. Mieżyński stresses that clear and efficient communication is of great importance in complex investments.
The new shelving aisles are intended for the storage of finished goods, while the existing area will be used as a raw material warehouse. With the expansion, Aflofarm can forgo an external warehouse and save space in a hall on the company premises, which will be used for order picking in the future.
The central element of the investment is three Kardex MSingleB-1300/36-ZT storage and retrieval machines, which reach a height of 36 m. These machines enable efficient space utilization and double-deep storage and retrieval with a load capacity of up to 1,300 kg. Control is managed via a modern PLC of the Siemens S7 type, while the automatic conveyor technology, with 79 drives, ensures seamless integration with the existing warehouse. Kardex Mlog has also programmed an interface to the existing material flow controller to optimize material flow management. The commissioning of the new system will occur without interrupting the ongoing operations at Aflofarm.
