Deze initiatief volgt op een Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) dat in juni 2025 tijdens de Paris Air Show tussen de twee bedrijven is ondertekend.<\/p>\n<h3>Focus op waterstoftechnologie<\/h3>\n<p>Het nieuwe bedrijf zal een flexibele organisatiestructuur hebben om de technologieontwikkeling, het ontwerp, de tests en de certificering van een innovatief aandrijfsysteem voor de luchtvaart op basis van waterstof-brandstofcellen te versnellen. Airbus en MTU zullen hun expertise en verschillende ingenieurs- en productieteams uit beide organisaties in de joint venture inbrengen.<\/p>\n<p>De niet-bindende overeenkomst is onderhevig aan de gebruikelijke goedkeuringen van de autoriteiten en de uitvoering van sociale processen op Europees en nationaal niveau. De start van de joint venture is gepland voor 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Bruno Fichefeux, hoofd van de toekomstprogramma&#8217;s bij Airbus, verklaarde:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201eOnze geplande joint venture is de volgende logische stap in onze gezamenlijke visie van een waterstofgebaseerd aandrijvingsconcept voor de luchtvaart. Door onze technologie\u00ebn en expertise in een gespecialiseerde eenheid te bundelen, cre\u00ebren we een Europese kracht die in staat is om geavanceerd onderzoek om te zetten in ge\u00efndustrialiseerde, gecertificeerde elektrische aandrijfsystemen.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Dr. Stefan Weber, Senior Vice President Engineering en Technologie bij MTU Aero Engines, benadrukte:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201eOns ambitieuze doel is om de weg vrij te maken voor een nieuw ontwikkeld, veilig, betrouwbaar en economisch aandrijfsysteem dat bijdraagt aan klimaatneutrale luchtvaart. Dit project is een cruciale stap op onze weg naar de eerste waterstofgestuurde aandrijving.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Waterstof heeft het potentieel om de klimaatimpact van de luchtvaart op lange termijn aanzienlijk te verminderen en de luchtvaart op een vergelijkbare manier te transformeren als elektrische voertuigen de auto-industrie.<\/p>\n<h3>Technologieleiderschap nastreven<\/h3>\n<p>De joint venture zal worden geleid door de gezamenlijke ambitie van de partners om een technologieleider in dit gebied te cre\u00ebren en het eerste waterstofgebaseerde brandstofcel-aandrijfsysteem voor commerci\u00eble vliegtuigen te leveren. Het zal de uitgebreide kennis van Airbus op het gebied van commerci\u00eble vliegtuigen combineren met de jarenlange ervaring van MTU in de ontwikkeling van brandstofceltechnologie\u00ebn en de erkende expertise in motorontwerp, -integratie, -validatie en -certificering.<\/p>\n<p>Naast de aandrijftechnologie\u00ebn zullen Airbus en MTU ook de ontwikkeling van een waterstof-luchtvaartindustrie en het bijbehorende regelgevingskader verder bevorderen, die eveneens cruciale voorwaarden zijn voor de grootschalige inzet van waterstofgestuurde vluchten.<\/p>\n<p>In maart 2025 had Airbus al aangekondigd zich te concentreren op een volledig elektrisch aandrijfsysteem met brandstofcellen. De resultaten van de tests van brandstofcelprototypes en aandrijflijnen, evenals het onderzoek naar aanvullende technologie\u00ebn zoals cryogenie, ondersteunen de haalbaarheid van deze technologie.
