De ontwikkeling van de autonome langeafstandsdrohne „Pantala“ heeft een belangrijke vooruitgang geboekt. Op 10 april 2026 vond op de luchtmachtbasis van de Bundeswehr in Roth de eerste succesvolle zweeftest van het volledig functionele prototype plaats. Volgens de ontwikkelaar Odonata vormt deze test een significante stap in de ontwikkeling van de drone, die is opgezet in het kader van het ESA Business Incubation Programme.<\/p>\n

Technische kenmerken en toepassingsmogelijkheden<\/h3>\n

De drone kenmerkt zich door een modulaire constructie en veelzijdige toepasbaarheid. Met een spanwijdte van 7,9 m en een maximale payload van tot 80 kg kan de drone een bereik van meer dan 1.100 km bereiken. Ze is uitgerust met een hybride aandrijfsysteem dat zowel op conventionele brandstof als op waterstof kan werken. Een gepatenteerd gewichtsbalanceringssysteem zorgt voor een stabiele aerodynamische vlucht.<\/p>\n

De toepassingsmogelijkheden van Pantala zijn divers en omvatten militaire logistiek, verkenningsmissies en humanitaire inzet in rampgebieden. Het platform is zo ontworpen dat het meerdere missies in \u00e9\u00e9n vlucht kan uitvoeren, wat het geschikt maakt voor verschillende toepassingen in zowel de civiele als militaire sector.<\/p>\n

Dennis Furchheim, CEO van Odonata, commentarieerde de succesvolle test: „De eerste zweeftest was een cruciale mijlpaal in de ontwikkeling van de drone. We zijn een belangrijke stap dichter bij ons doel van een volledig autonome langeafstandsdrohne gekomen.“<\/p>\n

De ontwikkeling wordt gestimuleerd door de ondersteuning van verschillende partners, waaronder de Europese Ruimtevaartorganisatie (ESA), het Beierse Staatsministerie van Economie en de TUM Venture Labs Aerospace. De groeiende internationale belangstelling vanuit landen zoals de VS, India, het Midden-Oosten en Oekra\u00efne motiveert het team om de ontwikkeling verder te versnellen. Verdere vluchtproeven zijn al in planning.<\/p>\n
