Rederij Hapag-Lloyd legt opnieuw een bestelling en bestelt nog eens 60.000 TEU standaardcontainers. De containers zullen vanaf juli worden geleverd. De rederij reageert hiermee op de schaarste van containers op de markt als gevolg van de hoge vraag. In totaal verhoogt Hapag-Lloyd daarmee de investeringen in de containerflotte naar 210.000 TEU.<\/p>\n

(Hamburg) De aanzienlijk gestegen vraag heeft geleid tot een tekort aan containers over de hele wereld. Sterke ongelijkheden, bijvoorbeeld bij de export uit Azi\u00eb, maar ook door opstoppingen in havens en vertragingen in het achterlandvervoer zorgen ervoor dat de containers aanzienlijk langer in transport zijn. Voor de afhandeling van de transportvolumes zijn momenteel meer containers nodig.<\/p>\n

Hapag-Lloyd heeft daarom opnieuw in zijn containerflotte ge\u00efnvesteerd en in totaal 60.000 TEU standaardcontainers in China besteld. De eerste containers vullen de lopende producties aan en zullen al vanaf juli aan Hapag-Lloyd worden geleverd en in de bestaande flotte worden ge\u00efntegreerd. Het grootste deel zal dan in het derde kwartaal worden toegevoegd.<\/p>\n

“De vraag blijft zeer hoog, de beschikbaarheid van containeruitrusting is momenteel een van de grootste uitdagingen in onze industrie en vereist onze hoogste aandacht. Om het tekort aan containers tegen te gaan, maar vooral om onze klanten een betere service te bieden, hebben we sinds het begin van de pandemie herhaaldelijk in onze containerflotte ge\u00efnvesteerd,” aldus Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO van Hapag-Lloyd.<\/p>\n

Al in april van dit jaar had Hapag-Lloyd bestellingen van in totaal ongeveer 150.000 TEU standaard- en reefercontainers voor 2021 aangekondigd. Aan het begin van de pandemie had het bedrijf ook in zijn containerflotte ge\u00efnvesteerd.<\/p>\n
