The Kellner & Kunz AG, an internationally active trading and service company, continues its automation strategy with the support of Infios. The provider of Intelligent Supply Chain Execution will integrate advanced robotics in inbound logistics. This measure is the next step in a long-standing collaboration that began in 2019 with the implementation of the Infios Warehouse Management (WM) and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) at the logistics center in Wels. These systems form the digital foundation for the gradual expansion of automation.<\/p>\n

Kellner & Kunz specializes in C-parts management for various industries, including manufacturing, crafts, and the automotive sector. The process chain integrated by Infios WM and WCS, from goods receipt to automated provision in the customers‘ production facilities, represents an important feature in the competitive market of tool and C-parts logistics. Currently, the company manages approximately 120,000 items from a wide range, with up to 5,000 deliveries processed fully automatically each day. These figures highlight the relevance of a highly integrated and flexible automation environment for efficient supply.<\/p>\n

As part of a comprehensive investment of 45 million euros in the Wels location, Kellner & Kunz has implemented the Infios software to control central areas of automation and enhance operational performance. The logistics facility includes a high-bay warehouse with 15,400 pallet spaces and 200,000 container spaces, complemented by autonomous transport vehicles and modern conveyor technology. Since commissioning, the focus has been on the continuous optimization of processes and the gradual integration of new technologies.<\/p>\n

Integration of New Technologies<\/h3>\n

Walter Bostelmann, CEO of Kellner & Kunz, emphasizes the advantages of the Infios platform: \u201cThe flexible and modular architecture of the Infios platform allows us to introduce new automation technologies as needed and seamlessly integrate them into our existing logistics processes.\u201d In the recent optimization phase, Infios realized the software integration of a robotic arm with a vacuum gripper for depalletizing incoming goods within four weeks. This solution significantly improves efficiency and ergonomics compared to manual handling, as it can handle up to six units weighing up to 25 kg simultaneously.<\/p>\n

The implementation of the robot marks the beginning of further integrations as part of a continuous optimization program aimed at increasing efficiency and scalability. Future automations are already in planning, including the establishment of a second depalletizing station and the integration of robotics to support replenishment processes.<\/p>\n
