On May 4, 20\/21, and 25, 2026, the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM) conducted nationwide targeted inspections to monitor compliance with cabotage regulations and the prohibition of taking the regular weekly rest period in the vehicle. A total of 286 personnel from the traffic control service were deployed at 75 inspection sites.<\/p>\n

The selection of inspection locations was deliberate. Routes heavily frequented by foreign vehicles, traffic hubs, and large loading facilities of industrial and logistics companies were taken into account. On May 21, inspection teams from the regional traffic police departments supported the operation at the Munich branch.<\/p>\n

The decision for the inspection sites was based on the expected traffic volume, the results of previous inspections, and the accumulated experience from the control service. It should be noted that the results of these targeted actions are not representative and therefore do not allow for reliable conclusions about the overall situation.<\/p>\n

Results of the Inspections<\/h3>\n

During the inspection actions in May, a total of 1,077 traffic checks were conducted. Among these, 628 checks were carried out to verify compliance with cabotage regulations, resulting in 25 objections and 14 violations. Additionally, 634 checks were conducted to ensure compliance with the prohibition of taking the regular weekly rest period in the vehicle, with 112 violations identified.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, 84 checks for technical deficiencies in vehicles were conducted, resulting in a total of 31 violations. In the context of all legal area inspections, security deposits totaling 121,535.51 EUR were collected.<\/p>\n

BALM plans to continue nationwide inspection actions focusing on cabotage, monitoring the regular weekly rest period, and conducting technical roadside inspections.<\/p>\n
