Schmitz Cargobull has increased its stake in the Australian trailer manufacturer Freighter Group to 72%. This decision follows the strategic partnership announced in April 2023 and underscores Schmitz Cargobull’s long-term commitment to the Australian market.<\/p>\n

The increase in shares is viewed as a step towards ensuring long-term stability for the Freighter Group. Through the partnership, the company gains direct access to Schmitz Cargobull’s global product development resources. Andreas Schmitz, CEO of Schmitz Cargobull, emphasizes: \u201cFor 15 years, we have served Australian customers, and with the increase of our stake in the Freighter Group, we reaffirm our long-term commitment in Australia.\u201d He highlights that the local team is crucial for the further development of the Freighter Group and that Schmitz Cargobull will support it with its global expertise.<\/p>\n

Investments in the Future<\/h3>\n

The majority acquisition follows significant investments, including the modernization of the production site in Ballarat, Victoria, which is estimated at 50 million Australian dollars. These measures have transformed the site into a modern production center that combines Schmitz Cargobull’s global development and production technologies with the robustness of Australian manufacturing.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the service and spare parts network in the aftermarket is continuously being expanded, providing customers with increased availability and access to local as well as global spare parts supply chains.<\/p>\n

The Freighter Group has also appointed Michael Temminghoff as the new Chief Executive Officer. Temminghoff brings over 15 years of experience from various roles at Schmitz Cargobull and will focus on strengthening the capabilities of the Freighter Group while maintaining a customer-oriented corporate culture. \u201cI am very excited to lead the Freighter Group during such an important phase,\u201d says Temminghoff. He sees great opportunities in the synergy between Schmitz Cargobull’s global strength and the local expertise of the Freighter Group.<\/p>\n

A New Path for the Freighter Group<\/h3>\n

Temminghoff emphasizes that the company emerges strengthened from a phase of intense modernization. The workforce and the site have been prepared for high-tech manufacturing. \u201cThe commitment of the local team has been the driving force behind this transformation,\u201d says Temminghoff.<\/p>\n
