With this new fully electric 16-ton truck, the German vehicle manufacturer MAN Truck &amp; Bus expands its offering in the field of electric trucks and fills the gap between lighter and heavier models. The eTGM is designed for urban and regional distribution and offers a range of up to 480 km. This makes it a suitable option for various applications, including food and supermarket logistics as well as municipal operations.<\/p>\n<h3>Expansion of the Electric Truck Portfolio<\/h3>\n<p>The MAN eTGM has a permissible total weight of 16.01 t, optionally also 16.5 t, and a chassis payload of up to 10.6 t. These specifications allow for high flexibility in the selection of superstructures. The use of the eTGM can also lead to significant toll advantages, as it is considered a fully electric vehicle in the over-16-ton segment in many European markets. Furthermore, the truck helps transport companies meet EU regulations for reducing CO\u2082 emissions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the MAN eTGM, we are bringing the ideal electric solution for urban and regional distribution to the road right now. It is the logical conclusion of our eTruck portfolio and makes MAN a true full-range provider of battery-electric commercial vehicles,\u201d explains Friedrich Baumann, Board Member Sales &amp; Customer Solutions at MAN Truck &amp; Bus.<\/p>\n<h3>Technological Basis and Application Possibilities<\/h3>\n<p>The MAN eTGM is based on a modular platform that is also used in the heavier series eTGX and eTGS. The central drive unit, battery system, and high-voltage architecture have been specifically adapted for the medium segment. The electric drive MAN eCD210 offers a power output of 210 kW (285 hp) and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. The high recuperation performance is particularly advantageous in stop-and-go operations and contributes to energy efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>The modular battery system allows for flexible adaptation to the respective operating conditions, thereby avoiding unnecessary costs and weight. Depending on the configuration, ranges of up to 480 km are possible, making the eTGM ideally suited for demanding distribution and regional applications.<\/p>\n<h3>Integration into Existing Structures<\/h3>\n<p>The development of the MAN eTGM involved close collaboration with body manufacturers to ensure high compatibility with superstructures. Optimized wheelbases and the availability of a mechanical power take-off (mPTO) enable the use of common series superstructures without extensive modifications.
