The supervisory board of Friedrichshafen Airport has appointed Jochen Krumm as the new managing director. He will assume his position on May 15, 2026, succeeding Claus-Dieter Wehr and Detlef Sch\u00e4fer-Carroll, who will conclude their terms at the end of the month. To ensure a smooth transition, Krumm will begin in mid-May, allowing for a two-week onboarding period. During this time, ongoing projects and operational matters will be handed over in an orderly manner.<\/p>\n

Experienced leader takes on responsibility<\/h3>\n

Friedrichshafen Airport has experienced positive development in recent years. This progress is to be continued under the new leadership. The airport has also established a second management level that covers central areas of responsibility and possesses extensive know-how in operational processes. This is intended to enable a seamless continuation of ongoing projects.<\/p>\n

Krumm brings extensive experience in strategic corporate management as well as in development and change processes. Although he does not come directly from the aviation industry, he has worked in various international positions, most recently in Cape Town, where he served as an interim manager and strategic advisor for a corporate group in the solar energy sector. The native of Ravensburg is now consciously returning to Lake Constance.<\/p>\n

Martin Buck, chairman of the supervisory board, commented on Krumm: \u201cFriedrichshafen Airport has gained significant momentum in recent months. We want to consistently continue this positive path. Regional airports today face a variety of economic and structural challenges. This requires not only operational competence but also entrepreneurial thinking, innovative strength, and strong networks. Jochen Krumm brings exactly these qualities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Krumm himself expresses his pleasure about his new role and emphasizes the importance of the airport for the region: \u201cFriedrichshafen Airport is an important location factor for the economy, tourism, and the people in the region. The positive development of recent months demonstrates the airport’s potential. I want to leverage my experience and my network to continue this successful path together with the employees, partners, and shareholders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Claus-Dieter Wehr, who has led the airport steadily for many years, will retire at the end of the month. Detlef Sch\u00e4fer-Carroll has made significant contributions during his tenure in a transformation phase of the airport and has further expanded domestic connections as well as collaboration with regional partners. The supervisory board thanks both for their long-standing commitment and wishes them all the best for the future.<\/p>\n
