Jan-Maarten de Vries, President Fleet Management Solutions at Bridgestone, emphasizes: „Companies cannot influence fuel prices, but they can certainly influence consumption.“ During times of significant price fluctuations, inefficiencies in fleets often become apparent. Fleets that analyze precisely where fuel is wasted can take targeted measures to improve their performance.<\/p>\n

A recent study by Webfleet on digital fleet management shows that for more than half of fleet managers, reducing operating costs and increasing efficiency are top priorities. Fuel represents one of the largest cost factors. Many fleets still have significant potential to optimize their operating costs in daily operations.<\/p>\n

Causes of High Fuel Consumption<\/h3>\n

According to Webfleet, unnecessary idling, inefficient route planning, and suboptimal driving behavior drive up fuel consumption. There is significant potential for savings, especially in urban operations and stop-and-go deliveries. Fleet managers who recognize and address these factors can reduce fuel consumption in the long term, rather than just reacting to fluctuating crude oil prices. Increased transparency allows for proactive action before costs rise.<\/p>\n

De Vries adds: „Optimizing fuel consumption is a key factor in reducing total operating costs.“ Fleets that integrate efficient fuel management into their daily routines are better prepared for price fluctuations and can control their costs more effectively.<\/p>\n

Successful Case Studies<\/h3>\n

The experiences of Webfleet customers demonstrate that data-driven analyses can contribute to reducing fuel consumption. Key factors include changes in driving behavior, optimized route planning, and better management of vehicle and tire performance, including tire pressure and idling times.<\/p>\n

One example is Sanctuary Maintenance, which was able to reduce fuel consumption by 25% within two months of implementing Webfleet. Data analysis revealed the connection between driving behavior and fuel consumption, leading to more conscious driving styles through driver training.<\/p>\n
