The MOSOLF Group has successfully commissioned a photovoltaic parking canopy at its Kippenheim location with a capacity of 3.3 megawatt peak (MWp). This facility is part of the company’s comprehensive energy and sustainability strategy and represents a significant step towards decentralized energy supply. With an annual electricity production of up to 3.7 gigawatt hours (GWh), the generated energy is directly integrated into the operational logistics and vehicle processes, corresponding to an electric driving performance of approximately 18 million kilometers of an average electric car.<\/p>\n
The newly commissioned facility is part of a larger photovoltaic project that will be gradually implemented at the Kippenheim location by the end of 2026. Once completed, the canopy will be among the largest of its kind in Europe. The project covers a total area of around 109,000 square meters, on which more than 54,000 solar modules will be installed. The planned total capacity of the project is nearly 24 MWp.<\/p>\n
The amount of electricity generated will make a significant contribution to the energy supply of the Kippenheim location. Particularly in the sun-rich months, the electricity demand during the day can be largely covered. Excess electricity will be used in a balancing manner at other German locations of the MOSOLF Group through its own electricity balancing group. The annual electricity production of this new facility corresponds to about a quarter of the current electricity consumption of the MOSOLF Group in Germany.<\/p>\n

The commissioning of the facility is highlighted by Thomas Zimmermann, Managing Director Operations at MOSOLF Logistics & Services, as an important operational step. \u201cWhat is crucial is not only the electricity generation but also the systematic integration into our logistics processes and energy flows,\u201d says Zimmermann. The combination of self-generated electricity, on-site use, and intelligent distribution within the corporate network demonstrates how energy efficiency and operational requirements can be sensibly combined.<\/p>\n
The photovoltaic parking canopy is an essential component of the so-called MOSOLF EcoSystem. This approach aims to closely link energy generation, charging infrastructure, and logistical processes at the group’s locations. MOSOLF pursues a systemic approach that goes beyond individual measures and aims for a long-term stable and resilient energy supply.<\/p>\n
