For the contract logistics business, a trend towards larger volumes and structures in online retail is emerging. Against this backdrop, ID Logistics Germany has announced a significant contract with a leading e-commerce customer. The long-term agreement includes the operation of a central logistics center with an area of 72,800 m\u00b2 in the Aachen metropolitan area, dedicated exclusively to supplying fulfillment and distribution centers.<\/p>\n
The commissioning of the existing property is planned for the third quarter of this year and will take place in four phases. By the second quarter of 2027, the logistics center is expected to be fully operational with around 300 employees. At peak times, up to 50,000 packages will be handled daily, either incoming or outgoing.<\/p>\n
Robin Otto, CEO of ID Logistics Germany, explains the significance of the project: \u201cThe scale of the logistics center is outstanding for the e-commerce segment and aligns with our rapid growth development over the past year. With this investment, we also demonstrate how future-proof logistics concepts can be sustainably implemented in existing properties. This secures ongoing operations and creates new jobs in an expanding industry.\u201d<\/p>\n
For the intralogistics concept, ID Logistics Germany has budgeted a total of 15 million EUR. This will create optimal conditions for the precise handling of millions of packages in the high-bay warehouse, which has a height of 11.5 m and 55 loading ramps. The plan includes the acquisition of narrow-aisle storage systems as well as tailored forklifts and complementary conveyor technology.<\/p>\n
Another selection criterion for the location was the good access to qualified skilled personnel in the densely populated region. In the coming months, ID Logistics will create around 300 positions, covering various functions in IT, operations (such as forklift drivers and order picking), as well as HR and management positions (team and shift leaders).<\/p>\n

The landlord of the logistics center is Logicor, an owner, manager, and developer of European logistics properties. Geographically, ID Logistics Germany is opening up the region at the tri-border area of Germany\u2013Belgium\u2013Netherlands with the new location for its contract logistics. This complements the strong presence in the Ruhr area and provides ideal conditions for international supply chains.<\/p>\n
The new logistics center is part of ID Logistics‘ strategy to increasingly operate large properties for the e-commerce supply chain, which require a high demand for personnel and strong technology use. This is supported by two projects from 2025: In the logistics park Diemelstadt in northern Hesse, the company has launched a fulfillment center with 68,000 m\u00b2, while in the Mittelweser Park in the Hanover metropolitan area, e-commerce capacities have been expanded to 77,000 m\u00b2.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
