The duisport Group achieved its economic goals in the fiscal year 2025 and recorded a positive overall result. Despite challenging conditions, the Port of Duisburg, the largest inland port in the world, demonstrated its performance capabilities. However, the company remains realistic for the current year, as geopolitical tensions and a weak economic development in Germany shape expectations for 2026.<\/p>\n

Markus Bangen, CEO of duisport, commented on the results: \u201c2025 was a very successful year for duisport. We achieved our economic goals and demonstrated that the Port of Duisburg is capable and economically stable even under demanding conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n

The total performance of the duisport Group rose to 390.5 million euros in 2025, compared to 356.3 million euros in the previous year. Key drivers of this development were particularly the areas of infrastructure and superstructure as well as transport and logistics services, both of which recorded growth. However, industrial logistics reflects the ongoing weakness in mechanical and plant engineering.<\/p>\n

Results and Investments<\/h3>\n

The positive development is also evident in the results: EBIT increased to 27.0 million euros, compared to 22.6 million euros in the previous year. The result before taxes was 23.4 million euros, compared to 19.8 million euros in the previous year. Additionally, duisport invested significantly above average as planned in the future viability of the port. Investments amounted to 79.8 million euros and included measures for modernizing infrastructure as well as further developing terminals and logistics areas.<\/p>\n

Lars Nennhaus, Board Member for Technology and Operations, emphasized the importance of these investments: \u201cThe figures underscore the high performance capability of our port operations. With a stable infrastructure, reliable processes, and targeted investments, we have created the conditions in 2025 to operate the Port of Duisburg safely and efficiently even under difficult conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n

In its operational business, duisport maintained its central role as a logistics location. Container handling increased to around 4.1 million TEU, while total cargo handling remained stable at 50.8 million tons despite the transformation in inland shipping. This confirms the resilience of the port in a volatile market environment, and the total cargo handling of all Duisburg ports was again over 100 million tons.<\/p>\n

Outlook for 2026<\/h3>\n

For the current year, the Board continues to expect challenging and unstable conditions. International conflicts, trade barriers, and the ongoing weakness of the German industry create high uncertainty. Therefore, duisport relies on prudent action and high adaptability.<\/p>\n

In addition to a resilient business model and a robust infrastructure, the human factor remains of central importance. Giordana Sperling-Doppstadt, Chief People & Corporate Services Officer, stated: \u201cThe stability of duisport is based not least on the commitment of our employees. In uncertain times, competence, flexibility, and a reliable corporate culture are crucial to actively shape change.\u201d<\/p>\n

The duisport Group remains committed to its strategic course to strengthen the competitiveness of the industry and continuously develop the logistics hub of the Port of Duisburg. The company sees itself as an infrastructure partner for business and trade, as well as a central platform in the international network and a driver of transformation.<\/p>\n
