Chapman Freeborn OBC, a subsidiary founded in 2006 by the air charter broker Chapman Freeborn in Frankfurt\/Main (Germany), has established a partnership with the climate protection platform Freeze Carbon, also based in Frankfurt, to enhance the measurement and reduction of emissions in time-critical air freight logistics. This collaboration, launched in October 2025, is part of a broader climate protection strategy of the company aimed at reducing and addressing remaining emissions.<\/p>\n

The logistics of On-Board Couriers (OBC) differ significantly from conventional freight planning, as they are often organized on short notice and across multiple regions. Shipments are frequently transported on the next available flight, which limits the potential for route optimization or load consolidation from an emissions perspective. In this context, the focus is on accurate measurement, operational efficiency, and the reduction of emissions that cannot currently be avoided due to the time-sensitive nature of the service.<\/p>\n

The digital tools from Freeze Carbon enable Chapman Freeborn OBC to calculate its own emissions footprint more consistently, increase transparency, and support reduction efforts along the value chain. Additionally, the collaboration provides access to high-quality climate projects that achieve measurable environmental and social impacts. By supporting verified initiatives, the company contributes to broader reduction efforts while prioritizing emissions reduction and operational efficiency wherever possible.<\/p>\n

Nicolas Estrada, project manager at Chapman Freeborn OBC, stated: „Through our partnership with Freeze Carbon, we are improving how we track our emissions and address remaining emissions in a structured and transparent manner while maintaining the speed and reliability our customers expect.“ He added that the focus is directed towards measurable climate protection\u2014through improving efficiencies, engaging partners, and participating in reduction efforts within their own operations.<\/p>\n

For OBC providers, where operational urgency is part of the service model, climate protection must be aligned with real operational constraints. Therefore, emissions management is increasingly integrated into daily planning, with an emphasis on reducing emissions where possible and mitigating remaining impacts through credible, data-driven approaches.<\/p>\n

The partnership with Freeze Carbon reflects an operationally grounded approach to sustainability in air freight logistics, combining improved emissions measurement, engagement of the value chain, and support for climate projects that help mitigate remaining emissions while maintaining high performance standards.<\/p>\n
