The operator in combined transport for semi-trailers on rail is thus expanding its offerings between Germany and Italy over the Swiss Alps. This initiative follows the connection that started in January between Li\u00e8ge and Domodossola.<\/p>\n<h3>Details of the New Connection<\/h3>\n<p>The new connection will initially operate with four weekly cycles, with the prospect of increasing this number to five round trips per week in the medium term. The trains run between the DUSS terminal in Kornwestheim, near Stuttgart, and the Malpensa Intermodale terminal in the northwestern part of the Milan metropolitan area. This route replaces the previously offered line between Stuttgart-Kornwestheim and Domodossola. CargoBeamer is once again cooperating with SBB Cargo International to provide traction for this connection.<\/p>\n<p>According to CargoBeamer, approximately 88% of CO2 emissions are saved for each transported semi-trailer compared to road transport with diesel trucks. This represents a significant environmental advantage that is relevant in the context of current discussions about sustainable transport solutions.<\/p>\n<h3>Expansion of the Transalpine Network<\/h3>\n<p>With the new line between Stuttgart and Milan, CargoBeamer is expanding its transalpine network. This connection allows for the transport of all types of semi-trailers, including standard craneable units as well as non-craneable trailers such as refrigerated and box trailers, waste transports, as well as containers and swap bodies.<\/p>\n<p>The Stuttgart \u2013 Milan route is the second new relation that CargoBeamer is introducing in a short time as a direct successor to the discontinued rolling road between Freiburg and Novara. This measure aims to continue securing the transport of non-craneable semi-trailers over the Alps and to optimize logistics between Germany, the Benelux countries, and Italy.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div class=\"x_x_elementToProof\">Boris Timm, COO of CargoBeamer, states: \u201cFollowing the very successful launch of the Li\u00e8ge \u2013 Domodossola line, we are experiencing strong momentum and significant demand for additional capacities in combined transport between Southwest Germany and the Milan metropolitan area.
