HARIBO is focusing on battery-electric transportation between its locations in Grafschaft, Neuss, and Eindhoven. In collaboration with the RECHT Logistik Group, a long-standing logistics partner, an electric truck is now being used for locally emission-free journeys. This initiative is part of the confectionery manufacturer’s sustainability strategy and aims to gradually reduce transport-related emissions.<\/p>\n

Integration of the Electric Truck into Existing Logistics Processes<\/h3>\n

The established routes between the headquarters in Grafschaft, the plant in Neuss, and the logistics center in Eindhoven are particularly suitable for the use of an electric vehicle due to the predictable distances and cycles. The CO2 savings achieved through the use of the electric truck support the climate goals of both companies. Stefan Sorce, Managing Director of HARIBO Logistics, emphasizes: \u201cThe further development of our transport solutions is an important building block in achieving our sustainability goals.\u201d He adds that HARIBO continuously collaborates with experienced partners to explore how emissions in logistics can be measurably reduced.<\/p>\n

Christian Karl Flick, CEO of RECHT Logistik GmbH, highlights that electrified transportation is particularly sensible where tour profiles are predictable and a reliable charging infrastructure is available. The collaboration with HARIBO demonstrates how innovative drive technologies can be integrated into existing logistics processes.<\/p>\n

The new electric truck has a range of 550 to 600 kilometers per charge, enabling reliable daily transportation between the locations. Charging occurs overnight at HPC stations with a power output of up to 400 kW. According to calculations based on published emission factors from the Federal Environment Agency, CO2 emissions can be reduced by approximately 37 kg per 100 kilometers compared to a conventional diesel truck. For the route between Neuss and Eindhoven, which totals 464 kilometers, this results in a daily CO2 saving of about 171 kg for two cycles. However, the actual savings may depend on various factors such as route profile, load capacity, and weather conditions.<\/p>\n

The RECHT Logistik Group has been pursuing the goal of further developing transport logistics through efficiency measures and alternative drives for several years. Currently, around 80 out of a total of 200 own trucks are equipped with alternative drive technologies, including LNG, bio-CNG, and hydrogen. The deployment of the new electric truck represents another step in this development.<\/p>\n

In the coming months, the operations of the electric truck will be monitored based on defined key figures such as energy consumption, range, charging times, and operational availability in daily transport operations. HARIBO and RECHT Logistik will jointly assess where further electrification options can be sensibly implemented.<\/p>\n

Sustainability as a Strategic Factor<\/h3>\n

Navid Thielemann, CEO of the Thielemann Group, emphasizes that sustainability has now become a competitive factor and a customer expectation. The electric truck initiative for HARIBO demonstrates that ecological and economic actions can be interconnected. Thielemann sees this development as a way to promote ambitious growth on a sustainable basis.<\/p>\n
