The „Seaway,“ a new dredger, will be equipped with a Liebherr crane of the type LS-C 80, specifically designed for demanding maritime tasks. The crane, mounted on a portal, allows for flexible handling of equipment and tools during dredging operations. The installation of the crane takes place in Rostock, where the entire crane and portal crane system was lifted onto the transport vessel MV Aura using the heavy-lift crane TCC 78000.<\/p>\n

Technical Details and Applications<\/h3>\n

The LS-C 80 is already the third crane of this type to be installed on a ship, following the previous installations on the vessels „Helios“ and „Krios“ with similar systems. This delivery reaffirms the operator’s trust in Liebherr technology, known for its reliability in demanding maritime operations. The crane is designed for modern dredging projects and combines high handling capacity with a durable and low-maintenance construction.<\/p>\n

The portal-mounted crane combines Liebherr’s cylinder luffing technology with a rail vehicle platform, allowing for precise positioning and efficient movements on the ship’s deck. With a lifting capacity of up to 50 tons and a reach of 26.5 meters, the LS-C 80 is designed for use under challenging conditions. The TCC 78000 has loaded the mounted crane system onto the transport vessel, ensuring safe transport to the shipyard in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

Integration into the Fleet and Future Perspectives<\/h3>\n

The dredger „Seaway“ was launched at the Royal IHC shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel and is currently in the final outfitting and testing phase. With a hopper volume of 31,000 m\u00b3, an optimized hull, and advanced automation, the vessel is expected to be operational by mid-2026. The integration of the LS-C 80 into the fleet, which now also includes the vessels „Helios“ and „Krios,“ increases handling capacity and supports the operator’s long-term operational planning.<\/p>\n

The „Seaway“ is equipped with a modern diesel-electric architecture, advanced automation, and methanol compatibility. The LS-C 80 complements this concept with durable components and maximum availability for daily offshore operations.<\/p>\n

The installation of the crane is part of the ongoing commissioning of the vessel, which is expected to be fully operational after the completion of harbor tests. The crane’s precise control system ensures repeatable movements for daily tasks.
