The airline will include Rome-Fiumicino (FCO) in its regular freighter flight schedule. From February 7, 2026, the connection from Frankfurt (FRA) to Rome will be offered once a week on Saturdays under flight number LH8344. The flight will continue from Rome to Istanbul (IST) and to the hub in Munich (MUC). Since December 2025, A321 freighters have been deployed ad-hoc to Rome to meet increased demand. The inclusion in the regular flight schedule underscores the strategic importance of the new hub in Southern Europe.<\/p>\n<h3>Expansion Towards Africa<\/h3>\n<p>Additionally, Algiers Airport (ALG) will be added to the network starting February 10, 2026. The connection will be offered on Tuesdays under flight number LH8308. With this new destination, customers can now book direct freighter connections to a total of seven destinations in the Middle East and Africa, including Beirut, Casablanca, Cairo, Yerevan, Tel Aviv, and Tunis.<\/p>\n<p>Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, commented on the new destinations: \u201cWe are pleased to offer our customers an expanded short- and medium-haul freighter network and even more connectivity right at the beginning of the year. With new destinations in the route network, Lufthansa Cargo continues to pave the way for faster, more reliable, and more flexible logistics across the continent for our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The airline&#8217;s short- and medium-haul network now includes a total of 22 destinations served by a fleet of four A321 freighters. In addition, 18 Boeing 777 freighters from the long-haul fleet and cargo capacities from Lufthansa Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, ITA Airways, and SunExpress complement Lufthansa Cargo&#8217;s global route network. The hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Brussels, and Rome form the infrastructural basis for rapid freight transport and enable a global network with around 350 destinations in 100 countries.<\/p>\n<p>Lufthansa Cargo is one of the leading cargo airlines worldwide and is part of the Lufthansa Group. The company transports an average of 2,500 tons of freight daily through its five cargo hubs. The airline markets the cargo capacities of its passenger aircraft as well as its own freighter fleet and operates around 300 trucks daily under a Lufthansa Cargo flight number. The company aims to connect global markets and trading partners through tailored logistics solutions and invests in innovative technologies and sustainability. In 2024, Lufthansa Cargo achieved a revenue of \u20ac3.26 billion and a transport performance of 8.5 billion freight ton-kilometers. Currently, around 4,200 employees are employed worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufthansa-cargo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener
