Mercedes-Benz Trucks will expand its driver assistance systems with new features starting February 2026, which already comply with upcoming legal requirements. The aim is to further enhance active safety in road traffic and to detect critical situations at an early stage.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Leinfelden-Echterdingen) The Active Brake Assist 6, which will be replaced by the Active Brake Assist 6 Plus, already meets the European AEBS (Advanced Emergency Braking System) regulation that will come into effect in September 2028. With the environmental detection from the already known 270-degree fusion technology of the previous version, the system is able to respond even faster to critical situations. This allows for a higher accident avoidance rate for vehicles up to 90 km\/h as well as for pedestrians and cyclists up to 60 km\/h. The system also clearly indicates when it is fully initialized.<\/p>\n

Detection of Fatigue Levels and Increased Eye Blinking<\/h5>\n

As an advanced attention assistant, the Attention Assist 2 will also be available starting February 2026. The system can contribute to accident prevention by providing visual and acoustic warnings in cases of driver inattention or fatigue. Using an integrated infrared camera for visual detection of head and pupil position, it captures not only the fatigue level through signs such as increased blinking, yawning, or drooping eyelids but also the driver’s attention based on the calculated gaze angle. This is a closed system: all data remains exclusively in the vehicle and is deleted by the system after 15 minutes.<\/p>\n
