(K\u00f6ln\/Berlin) The cooperation agreement represents another milestone for the Operations Plan Germany. The plan is a response to the current Russian threat and the overall deteriorating security situation in Europe. Germany has the task, within the framework of the alliance, to ensure the deployment of allied forces for deterrence and, if necessary, defense on NATO’s eastern flank. Due to its geographical location, it acts as a hub.<\/p>\n
To be resilient and robust in this regard, intensive and well-organized cooperation between all civilian and military entities is required. The now signed cooperation agreement outlines the support services of BALM within the framework of its legal responsibilities and authorities. BALM provides assistance in preparing for the transport needs of the Bundeswehr within the framework of civil-military cooperation and supports the Bundeswehr upon specific request in warning tasks to ensure the smooth execution of military transports in closed formations. Furthermore, it provides important information that contributes to the creation of a comprehensive national situational picture.<\/p>\n
“The cooperation agreement is another crucial step towards a robust and functional hub in Germany,” said Lieutenant General Bodemann. “I would like to thank the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility for this support. The agreement reached now is extremely beneficial and sends a clear signal. Because only together and with a comprehensive national approach can we ensure a high level of military mobility.”<\/p>\n
BALM President Christian Hoffmann also commented: “With the signing of the cooperation agreement, we are laying the foundation for close and binding cooperation with the Operational Command of the Bundeswehr. In understanding this national task, we will contribute our expertise across our range of responsibilities in preparing and implementing the Operations Plan Germany.”<\/p>\n
With the cooperation agreement, civil-military cooperation between the business area of the Federal Ministry of Transport and the Bundeswehr is being closely intertwined.<\/p>\n
