The goal is to develop a common open-source data model for dynamic time slot management along the entire logistics chain. The project is led by Transporeon, a leading transport management platform and a company of Trimble.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>(Berlin) In practice, there is currently a lack of consistent, manufacturer-independent standards for managing time slots. Many companies, suppliers, and recipients work with proprietary isolated solutions that cannot respond flexibly or communicate with each other. This is precisely where the new project of the Open Logistics Foundation comes in: it aims to create an open, interoperable framework that digitizes, simplifies, and synchronizes the processes around the handling areas. <em>Time Slot Management<\/em> is a project of the existing Working Group <em>Track &amp; Trace<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Standardized and Free Solution for Flexible Time Slots<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The focus of the new project is on developing a standardized Time Slot Data Model, defining interoperable communication protocols, and implementing intelligent negotiation logics to enable automated and fair allocations in case of time deviations. &#8220;The demand for open standards is enormous. Currently, logistics service providers often have to work with several different time slot systems in parallel,&#8221; explains Gerry Daalhuisen, Senior Director Dock &amp; Yard\/Fleet Products at Transporeon and Co-Lead of the project. &#8220;With this project, we want to resolve this fragmentation and create a system that works flexibly and interoperably.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The results will be made available as an open-source solution through the foundation&#8217;s repository. &#8220;The introduction of an open standard for Time Slot Management is an important step towards improving collaboration in logistics and enabling a common, free solution for all market participants,&#8221; adds Nathalie B\u00f6hning, project manager at the Open Logistics Foundation and Co-Lead of the project. &#8220;We are thereby creating a logical complement to our Track &amp; Trace model, as Time Slot Management is an essential component of transparent supply chains.
