The electrification of heavy commercial vehicles brings new requirements for fleet management. Therefore, W&P GmbH is equipping its entire e-truck fleet with telematics solutions from GPSoverIP. The GPSauge system provides comprehensive telemetry data in real-time \u2013 from remaining range to battery status. This creates the necessary data transparency for efficient and intelligent charging management in the fleet.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Schweinfurt\/Prichsenstadt) W&P GmbH is consistently advancing the electrification of its vehicle fleet and is relying on GPSoverIP as its telematics partner. A total of around 25 to 30 heavy e-trucks will be equipped with specialized GPSauge hardware and the central fleet management system GPS-Explorer.<\/p>\n

With the new charging infrastructure from W&P \u2013 the largest private charging park for trucks in Bavaria, consisting of 56 charging stations and a storage capacity of 15 megawatts \u2013 a forward-looking model for the entire industry is being created. However, infrastructure alone is not enough: To operate electric vehicles economically and reliably, data-driven control, transparency, and intelligent charging planning are required.<\/p>\n

E-Fleet Management at a New Level<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The telematics solution from GPSoverIP provides crucial vehicle and telemetry data in real-time \u2013 including mileage, charge status, remaining range, battery temperature, and charging duration. This data is collected via the GPSauge hardware and transmitted directly to the web portal GPS-Explorer via CAN bus or alternative collection techniques. Even though the manufacturer-specific FMS standard (Fleet Management System) currently does not provide complete e-telemetry data, GPSauge technology already enables access to central parameters such as energy consumption, charging cycles, or recovered energy.<\/p>\n

“With the transition to e-trucks, W&P GmbH is taking a bold step towards sustainable logistics \u2013 while simultaneously relying on digital intelligence in vehicle control,” explains Dirk Jurleit, Head of Sales & Personnel at GPSoverIP GmbH. “Our solutions provide the necessary transparency and efficiency to derive real economic benefits from electromobility.”<\/p>\n

Planning Charging Times, Optimizing Electricity Costs \u2013 with Connected Intelligence<\/strong><\/h5>\n

A central building block for the future of e-fleet management lies in the intelligent coordination of charging processes. The use of self-generated energy \u2013 for example, from photovoltaic systems \u2013 often conflicts with staggered charging needs, while electricity prices are subject to significant fluctuations. In the future, it will be crucial to manage these dynamics purposefully. W&P GmbH aims to integrate vehicle data, charging infrastructure, and energy management systems into a cohesive overall system.<\/p>\n

Telematics solutions like those from GPSoverIP support this approach, and a central charge management tool could enable proactive planning of charging routines, aligning operational processes with energy tariffs, and conducting charging processes in a network- and cost-optimized manner.<\/p>\n

W&P addresses key challenges of the energy transition in heavy goods transport with its e-fleet strategy. GPSoverIP provides the technological infrastructure to support this strategy with precise data collection and transmission. The consolidation of relevant information in a connected platform enables data-driven decisions in daily fleet operations \u2013 a crucial step towards higher efficiency, economical resource use, and sustainable logistics.<\/p>\n
